The Minister of Tourism, Mr. Haris Theocharis, informed the members of the Regional Council of Tourism about the developments in tourism at European level, during the 4th meeting, which took place on 28.4.20 with a teleconference.
As he states in a relevant post on social media, the positions of the Greek side during the teleconference of the European Ministers of Tourism underline the need for:
- Unified rules for the reopening of air, sea and road transport to ensure the safe and uninterrupted movement of EU travelers.
- The formulation of common protocols for airports, hotels, MMM, catering, etc.
- The creation of a European Tourism Rehabilitation Fund.
- Providing flexible financial instruments both for short-term crisis management (voucher for air compensation, labor support, demand support, etc.) and for long-term crisis management (eg new NSRF for Tourism).
It was agreed that there should be continuous information and stable cooperation in the framework of the establishment of a common European front for crisis management.
The teleconference of the PST closed with the intervention of the Deputy Minister of Tourism Mr. Manos Konsolas, who referred to special actions that are in progress to support the competitiveness of Greek tourism.
